Alchi Village and Monastery

Shey Palace

Founded by King Deldon Namgyal in 17th Century, this palace is a major attraction of Leh. It is located in south of Leh City at a distance of 15 KM. You can trek down to this palace from Thickey Monastery which is about 4 KM away.

Leh houses more than 35 monasteries. The monasteries are important tourist attractions as they have carvings, murals, and beautifully carved statues installed there. You will get to see Thnagkas and different types of wall paintings at these monasteries in Leh.

Leh Palace

This is the prime attraction of Leh ans was built by the then king Sengge Namgyal in 17th century. The architecture of this palace attracts tourists from all over the world and the palace has archaeological significance also.

Hemis Monastery

The biggest and the wealthiest monasteries of this region, Hemis Monastery is the center of attraction of Leh and is visited by believers of Buddhism and others too.

Sindhu Ghat

Located about 10 KM away from Indus River, this is a quiet river bank which you should never miss out during your stay in Leh.

Stok Palace Museum

Located about 14 Km from the city center of Leh, this museum depicts collection of Royal Family of Leh. You get to see many types of artifacts here and also witness life style and culture of Buddhists.

Pangong Lake

Best Time to Visit Leh

The best months to go for Leh tour are June, July, August, September and October. These months have pleasant weather and clear sky and the roads remain open to travel easily. Winter months have extreme temperature and that is why it is not recommended to visit Leh during winter. Snow fall is common during January, February and March. Rainfall happens throughout the year.
